What to Expect
The first step is to make contact with a therapist and arrange an appointment.
When you arrive for the first session you may be feeling nervous and unsure of what to say, the therapist is aware of this so the first session is structured in a way that they give you information about the *practicalities of therapy and also for you to give an outline of the issues that are causing you concern.
* Practicalities : Therapist qualifications, confidentiality, appointment times & duration, cancellations & fees.
At the first session the therapist will go through an intake form with you, this only takes a few minutes and is confidential.
The initial session will last about 50 minutes and it gives you the opportunity to meet the therapist you will be working with and for you to see if this is the therapy and therapist for you. You can also discuss the options available to you.
As we are all individual so too is the therapy and the amount of sessions you may need, however it is usually agreed to meet for 6-8 sessions, at the end of this time we will review the work together. Depending on what you bring to each session and how you feel this may be enough or very often you will want to continue with the therapy as issues arise and may feel a deeper exploration would be beneficial. Ultimately you will know when you are ready to finish.
If you have any questions on the above please don’t hesitate to contact a therapist on 087 6169145.
